The store has a fresh, clean layout, thanks to the new purchases that students recently made. Wall hooks have been placed on vertical columns, making it easier to look through clearance products and find something that sparks interest, at a great, low price. Nesting tables now sit up front, and greet new customers as they enter. T-shirt frames now highlight available styles, which are now centrally located. And other new display fixtures have been added to enhance the overall look and professionalism of the store. Stop in and see for yourself, we hope you love the new look of the store!

Upcoming in the third quarter theROARstore will be featuring some new items along with new store hours. Our third quarter hours will be Tuesdays 8-4 pm, Thursdays 8-4 pm, and Fridays 8-4 pm. We have a few new featured items like our new Star Wars T-shirts, new crew neck sweatshirts, and also some new socks. We hope to see you soon!
As a holiday promotion, the students currently running theROARstore decided to have their first ever (RED and) Black Friday two-day sale. On December 9th and 10th, the students extended their hours to allow more adults to come to shop for the holidays. Prices were marked down so that customers received 10% of their entire purchase. theROARstore opened their doors on Saturday morning, at the same time the Booster Club had their annual Holiday sales, hoping to piggy-back on their foot traffic. The first quarter of theROARstore has been quite successful this school year. After opening the new brick and mortar location, we amassed gross sales of more than $10,000 and its still on the rise! With this revenue the ROARstore is looking to put it back into the store to purchase more inventory. Working alongside the student section for football games and volleyball games has helped the store greatly and we hope to do so through the winter months and winter activities. We are very excited to see the store grow continue throughout the year and we hope to get more students involved! Second quarter hours Monday and Tuesday 8am-11:45am Thursdays and Fridays 8am-4pm.
Despite opening its doors back in September, theROARstore got word in early October, that the remains part of our store's hardware would be installed. The original plans called for a wall application/fixture, called a slatwall, to be installed on both the south and west walls. So the students shut down the store, put paper over the windows and planned to reopen to fanfare.
Wish the help of the Linn-Mar Foundation, the Marion Chamber of Commerce and its Ambassadors held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, tore down the paper, and unveiled an all new look. Students have also ordered new merchandise (some of which was on sale) and anyone interested could enter a drawing for a chance to win free merchandise. Vintage notebooks were even given away--these were found, in large amounts, with a copyright date of 1981...when a school supply store was run by the business department. **below you can find a link to the transcript of the remarks made by students during the ceremony, or watch the video (which was streamed live on our Facebook page) The Roar Store has been open for about a month and so far we have had a lot of interest, and success. In this past month we have worked along side with the Linn-Mar student section to coordinate our sales with the theme of each of the football games, and we have had a lot of success doing that. The store has normally been opened 2 days a week (on Thursday and Friday) and we've been really productive, but we are looking forward to being open more often, especially with Homecoming next week (see new Spirit products below)! Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and supported our business, we really appreciate it and hope to see you all soon. Students preparing for theROARstore opening on Friday, September 2nd. To celebrate Friday's blackout for the football game, we will be selling black jerseys at half price($5), other apparel and merchandise will also be available. We will be open from 8 am to 4 pm, future hours will be announced at a later date.
We're told that we take possession of our new store on August 1st, but there still is A LOT to do before we are ready to open to the public...and that's before we get our new students and have to train them on our systems and procedures. And although the district's construction budget did include some of what we needed, there is still a lack of fixtures, accessories, and equipment needed for day-to-day operations. Here's how you can help: the Linn-Mar Foundation (in addition to granting us money for a new POS system) has set up a crowdfunding page for us, enabling interested individuals to pledge/donate an amount of their choice to help meet (or exceed) our $3,000.00 goal. Even if you are unable to financially support us, you can still help by forwarding this, or any of our related social media posts, with your friends, fellow employees, and family members who also support Linn-Mar Community Schools.

As our business continues to grow, so do the opportunities for our students to create some amazing relationships. This summer/fall we are working with new vendors that can offer a unique product to our customers (and as always, designed by students/staff). We will still be offering great brands like Nike and Under Armour, but we are also beginning to expand our lines. An agreement with Top of the World headwear has been penned, and communications are on-going to offer Coca-Cola beverages (waters & juices). We are also regularly visiting stores and paying attention to trends, so we can continue to offer innovative products that we think our customers will LOVE. Feel free to comment below on companies you think we should reach out to!! **please note that many vendors have distibution/financial requirements in place to ensure their products sell well, and which makes it hard/impossible for small businesses, like ours, to sell in their stores.
During the winter of 2016, student enrollment doubled from the previous year(s), which has allowed us to offer an additional section of our class! In 2016-17, The ROAR Store will have a consistent group of students during the first three quarters of the school year.
**Hours will be determined based on each class's students' availability. |
